Peep Show – Gravure by Diane Alire
Two Plate Gravure
15 x 10"
Alire’s subtle and often humorous photogravure prints cover gritty and controversial subject matters from gender to race and identity. Her images are not only layered in meaning, but she often uses multiple plates to create depth and rich colors. Alire’s pieces are a great example of how the sensuous 19th century gravure process can be combined with the edgy collage possibilies of digital technology to create a new breed of hand-printed images.
